Director of Estimation
Our client, leaders in construction, is looking to add a Director of Estimation to its team in Montreal.
The right candidate has operated as a general contractor, professionally serving Commercial & Industrial clients across Canada. Their style of management is to appreciate and integrate the distinct vision, needs and strategies of differing, commercial and institutional clients.
As a full-service company, our client offers general contracting, millwork manufacturing and installations, as well as project management. Working closely with designers, architects, corporate executives, clients and/or their representatives assures the delivery of creative renovations and construction assignments.

Reporting Relationships
As a member of Senior Management, the Director Estimation has “primary” accountability for the Estimation department of our client. The incumbent reports to the President & Vice-President.
Reporting to the Director Estimation is a group of estimators who provide services to both the Construction and Installation divisions.
Position Overview
Following the decision of the Management Committee to bid on a request-for- service, the Director Estimation brings the assignment to the Estimating department, reviews the parameters and oversees the quotation through all its formulation steps. When completed the incumbent presents the proposal to Management for review and approval before forwarding the quotation to the client’s office.
One of the core responsibilities of the incumbent is to confer with Project Managers, owners, sub-contractors and design professionals to review resolve potential construction problems, complaints and deadlines.
Our client operates within the principles of teamwork and makes available all senior staff to Project Managers, Site Supervisors in the conceptualization, understanding, support and delivery of professional construction assignments.
The incumbent must possess mastery for analyzing blueprints, construction techniques, materials and installation procedures. Furthermore, being a professional general contractor demands organization, attention to detail, an ability to see the big picture and an understanding of all facets of the construction process, usually acquired through years of experience.
One of the key responsibilities of the Director Estimation is to continuously assess and develop estimating processes and procedures to increase the effectiveness, efficiency and competitiveness of our bids. Our goal o is to develop the most professional estimating department in the industry, which the Director is accountable to develop.

Specific Accountabilities of the Director of Estimation
- The primary accountability of the Incumbent is to develop improved methodologies in the Estimating department to increase the probability of winning new assignments. The goal is to create an Estimation function that is the best in the industry.
- The Director Estimation working closely with the Director of Operations must develop outstanding leadership skills that foster and result in building credibility with company employees, suppliers, sub-trades, project managers, designers and clients.
- Due to the nature and deadlines of construction projects, the incumbent must develop the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment without creating unnecessary stress in the organization.
- The incumbent must develop and foster a strong solution based environment to meet the current and future challenges of the business.
Salary based on experience $80,000-$100,000
